FORT WAYNE – It is too soon to tell how the winter storm that is prompting warnings from Colorado through Illinois will hit northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, but the National Weather Service in northern Indiana says the region is likely to see at least some snow and ice overnight.
It issued a special weather statement Thursday morning for the following counties:
- Indiana – Elkhart, LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, De Kalb, Fulton In, Kosciusko, Whitley, Allen, White, Cass, Miami, Wabash, Huntington, Wells, Adams, Grant, Blackford and Jay.
- Ohio – Williams, Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Allen.
As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, the worst of the snow and ice was expected to be in the far northwest corner of the state, and the brunt of the storm was expected to dip below northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.
Until temperatures rise Friday morning, driving could be difficult in some areas.
