Snow, wind may reduce visibility

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Tuesday, advising that snow showers and continued high winds and gusts could cause difficulties for some drivers.

Snow accumulations today are expected to be 1 to 2 inches along and north of the Indiana Toll Road, with less than an inch to the south and over all of northwest Ohio.

Some areas of the following counties might be affected, the weather service said:

  • Indiana – La Porte, St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, DeKalb, Starke, Pulaski, Marshall, Fulton, Kosciusko, Whitley, Allen, White, Cass, Miami, Wabash, Huntington, Wells, Adams, Grant, Blackford and Jay.
  • Ohio – Williams, Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Allen.
Winds gusting between and 35 mph and 45 mph are expected to continue through the area through the afternoon, the weather service said.

The snow showers could reduce visibility to less than one mile at times, the weather statement said.

The conditions may cause difficulties for high-profile vehicles, the weather service said.

A winter storm is moving toward the area, the weather service said, but it is not forecast to hit until Thursday.
