A convicted sex offender who has already served time is now facing more than 30 years in prison for molesting a 4-year-old girl.
Richard J. Harmon II, 30, of the 1000 block of Home Avenue, pleaded guilty to one felony count of child molesting Monday, according to Allen Superior Court records.
As part of a plea agreement, Allen County prosecutors recommend he be sentenced to 30 years in prison, but that sentence would run at the same time as a four-year term Harmon received last week for failing to register as a sex offender.
Harmon’s latest victim told doctors in August that she had been molested by him, according to court documents.
When questioned by police, Harmon admitted he slept next to the girl the night before but denied touching her intentionally. He said, according to court documents, “that if something happened, it happened while he was a sleep.”
If the plea agreement is accepted at his sentencing later this month, two other felony counts of child molesting against Harmon will be dropped.
Harmon was previously convicted of child molesting in 2001 and received a four-year sentence, according to the Allen County sex offender registry.
