Fort Wayne welder wins $100,000 in lottery

A Fort Wayne welder who expects to be laid off in February has won $100,000 in a Hoosier Lottery scratch-off game, the lottery said Friday.

Bradley Reed bought the winning $5 Jingle Jackpot ticket at Circle K, 2304 Sherman Blvd., shortly after buying a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix Thursday night, the lottery said in a statement.

According to the lottery, his wife, Rita, didn't believe at first.

"I think she was looking for a disclaimer on the back of the ticket that said something like, 'The Reeds can't have this much luck.'"

In the lottery's statement, Reed said his daughter has been sick, he bought the car because he's been having car trouble and a cousin died three weeks ago.

"There is no doubt; someone is smiling down on me," he said in the statement.
