The Cameron Hospital Foundation said today it has received an anonymous $500,000 toward its hospital building project.
The gift, in memory of Jane Snyder, is part of an initiative to raise $3 million for construction of the Angola hospital's new facility and the purchase of advanced medical equipment, the foundation said in a statement.
The project is expected to cost $47 million, the statement said.
"We are overwhelmed by the generosity of this donor," said Laura Lutterbeck, the foundation's executive director, in the statement. "What an incredible tribute to both Mrs. Snyder and to the importance of this project to our community."
Snyder served as a hospice volunteer at the hospital for more than 13 years, and her husband, Ned, served on the hospital board and as board president. Their son, Chris, is the current foundation board president.
