Butler upsets No. 1 IU

Alex Barlow made a layup with 2.5 seconds remaining in overtime as Butler upset No. 1 Indiana 88-86 in a classic Crossroads Classic contest Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

"I saw the clock get about to six so I decided to make a play," Barlow said.

Indiana freshman guard Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell hit a three-pointer with 6.6 seconds to force overtime.

A three-pointer by Kellen Dunham gave Butler a 61-59 lead with 5:44 left in regulation. It was part of a 12-0 run for the Bulldogs.

A basket by Ferrell got the Hoosiers within 74-71 late. Victor Oladipo then scored to make it 74-73. Two free throws by Barlow made it 76-73. Ferrell then made his three-pointer to send the game to overtime.

IU had control early in the extra period. A layup by Zeller gave the Hoosiers an 84-80 lead.

Rotnei Clarke made a three-pointer to get the Bulldogs within one. Chase Stigall then was open for his three-pointer to give Butler the 86-84 lead.

Zeller made a layup with 19.3 seconds to make it 86 all.

Barlow then made his layup to give the Bulldogs back the lead.

Jordan Hulls missed a desperation halfcourt shot at the buzzer.

"Don't use this as an excuse to get down on Indiana. I still think they're a team to beat in April," Butler coach Brad Stevens said. "Our guys just played really hard, and they figured out a way."
