ANDERSON, Ind. – Authorities in central Indiana are holding a man they suspect fatally stabbed another man during a fight.
Twenty-six-year-old Adam E. Layne of Anderson was being held without bond Tuesday at the Madison County Jail. He was arrested Monday on a preliminary charge of murder.
A jail officer said he didn’t know whether Layne has an attorney.
Investigators told The Herald Bulletin (http://bit.ly/Za2sF9) that they believe Layne repeatedly stabbed 23-year-old Willie Rumph during a fight at Layne’s home Sunday. Rumph drove himself to a nearby hospital and died in surgery after he was transferred to a hospital in Indianapolis.
Anderson police Lt. Paul Boulware said Layne turned himself in Monday morning.
Boulware says police also arrested Layne’s girlfriend on a preliminary charge of assisting a criminal.
