The Northwest Allen County Schools board Monday approved spending more than $22,700 on a variety of repair and replacement projects at five district schools and the natatorium.
The improvements include more than $2,900 in heating, ventilation and air conditioning repairs at the natatorium, $9,500 for a water softener at Perry Hill Elementary, $4,000 for an air handler at Arcola Elementary, $2,520 for security cameras at Maple Creek Middle School, $907 for HVAC repairs at the Hickory Center Elementary and $2,880 for a boiler repair at Huntertown Elementary.
The total is $22,719.79 and will come from the capital projects fund, school officials said. The remaining balance in that fund is $77,299.
In other business Monday, the board approved academic calendars for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school years. Next years school year will begin Aug. 14 and will end May 30.
The board also approved calendars for 2015-16 and 2016-17 but will re-evaluate those in two years, Superintendent Chris Himsel said.
