A man was charged Friday with felony theft after the good, sound horse he sold for $25,000 turned out to be arthritic, according to documents filed in Allen Superior Court.
Michael D. Pederson, 43, sold the horse named Motown to a woman in March, and a few weeks later, the animal came up lame, court documents stated.
A veterinarians exam revealed the horse had pre-existing arthritis. This prompted the buyer to make a theft report with Allen County police in September. She told police she had trusted Pederson when he told her Motown was a good, sound horse, according to court documents.
Pederson, who recently moved to North Carolina, has a warrant for his arrest.
