The Imagine Schools on Broadway board heard the results Thursday of a recent financial audit, which included three record-keeping citations.
Federal and state audits were completed for the financial records of Imagine Schools on Broadway and Imagine MASTer Academy.
That school’s audit results were presented to the school board Wednesday.
Amy Williams, regional business manager for Imagine Schools, said clarification will be requested on most of the citations, some of which MASTer Academy received as well. Imagine Schools on Broadway received no citations for the federal audit, but three were found for the state.
The school didn’t have a copy of a document that tracks the number of students on count day, a day when schools and districts submit enrollment numbers for per-student tuition dollars. The form was sent to the state, but the school didn’t have a copy on hand. Williams said the school has already corrected that item this year.
There was also not a report for all of the school’s capital assets, according to the report. The school tracks the value of big-ticket items like computers, but the audit included items like bulletin boards and furniture as capital assets.
The school was also cited for not providing receipts to students or families when money is paid. Williams said the school only receives money for lunches or field trips.
She said the school will ask for clarification on the record-keeping citations to see whether there’s a minimum dollar amount when a receipt is required and whether the school needs to place a value on all items in its school.
