Two eastbound lanes on St. Joe Center Road bridge were reopened to traffic Thursday.
The four-lane bridge, just west of St. Joe Road, has been closed while crews worked to upgrade and rehabilitate the road and bridge. The two westbound lanes are expected to open next week, officials from the Allen County Highway Department said.
The project involved widening the foundation, replacing the deck, adding beams, a sidewalk and LED lighting. Work continues on a trail that will go under the structure on the west side.
R.L. McCoy, of Columbia City, completed the project for $3.4 million, slightly less than the county’s estimate for the work.
