2,000 hybrids to join GE fleet

GE is buying 2,000 plug-in hybrid cars from Ford for its corporate fleet.

Ford and GE announced the purchase of the C-Max Energi hybrid last week. GE has a goal of converting half its fleet to alternative energy vehicles. With the Ford purchase, GE now has 5,000 alternative-fuel vehicles, or 10 percent of its fleet.

Ford will promote GE’s electric vehicle charging stations as part of the agreement.

Average credit debt per borrower grows

Americans cranked up their credit card use in the third quarter, racking up more debt than a year ago, while also being less diligent about making payments on time, an analysis of consumer-credit data shows.

The average credit card debt per borrower in the U.S. grew 4.9 percent in the July-to-September period from a year earlier to $4,996, TransUnion said last week.

At the same time, the rate of credit card payments at least 90 days overdue hit 0.75 percent, up from 0.71 percent last year, the firm said.
