Notre Dame linebacker Prince Shembo was named the independent football defensive player of the week for his performance in the No. 3 Irish's 21-6 victory at Boston College on Saturday.
Shembo had a career-high three sacks, and he was the first Notre Dame player to have three sacks in a game since 2006.
The 6-foot-2, 250-pound junior finished with five tackles, with four for loss, and he recovered a fumble.
