Rockford, OH – Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reported that his office is investigating a homicide that occurred at 509 North Street, Rockford. The Rockford Police Department was dispatched to the address at 10:43 AM regarding a shooting.

When Police Chief Paul May arrived, he entered the residence and found Melinda S. Shinn, age 26, deceased in the residence. It was apparent that the death was not a natural death.

Chief May contacted the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and requested that the Sheriff’s Office handle the investigation and Rockford officers assist.

A warrant has been obtained for Daniel C. Martin, age 40, for murder. Martin has not been located. Martin may be driving a 1998 Red Ford Explorer with Ohio License plates EHU 5541. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office at 419-586-7724 or your local law enforcement agency.
