Bryan machining company to close, 138 to lose jobs

A Bryan, Ohio, maker of machined parts notified state officials this week that it will close by the end of September and its 138 employees will lose jobs.
New Era, Ohio, LLC, told the Office of Workforce Development of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services that job cuts will begin May 7.
New Era was formed in 2004 by a group of Bryan investors and Ingersoll Rand Co. has been its sole customer, according to a statement issued by the company. Ingersoll last year notified New Era that it would begin in June to make parts now supplied by New Era at an Ingersoll facility in South Carolina.
The job cuts will add to Williams County unemployment that stood at 16.4 percent in January, according to figures released Wednesday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The county had the state's 12th-worst unemployment.
